In general, hot glow plugs promote better idling and acceleration. If your engine malfunctions or accelerates slowly, a hotter glow plug will help.
Cold thermal grade glow plugs produce more power and can improve performance if your engine runs at high revolutions. The disadvantage is a more unstable idle and more difficulties to fine tune the engine at low revolutions.
